Archbishop Patrick O'Regan has advised of new arrangements for the celebration of Sacrament of Confirmation in Parishes across the Adelaide Archdiocese for 2021. It will be a shared approach for Confirmations, with ceremonies to be celebrated by either the Archbishop, the Vicar General or the Parish Priest.
Parishes and schools have been notified of the new process and requirements in order to prepare the 'Schedule of Confirmation Celebrations for 2o21. Ideally all ceremonies will be held in Terms 2 and 3, with smaller groups of up to 30 candidates.
Confirmation ceremonies to be held:
on week nights and Saturdays should a Rite of Confirmation Outside Mass only, with First Holy Communion following at a Sunday Mass within a relatively short time after the Confirmation is celebrated.
within Sunday Mass, then First Holy Communion is to be celebrated during that Eucharist. (For note, Confirmation within Mass being celebrated at a weekend Parish Mass ought to include First Holy Communion).
Once the Schedule has been completed, parishes and schools will receive notification of the date(s) and celebrant for their celebration/s, along with details of any requirements for your ceremony/ies.
ALL proposed liturgies will need to be sent to the Archbishop's Office for approval. Parishes are asked to use the Liturgy templates on this website, which have been developed with a focus on children and in collaboration with Archbishop Patrick O'Regan.
